Homelessness
|
14/11/2017
|
Who is affected? More than 150,000 people ask for help with homelessness every year.
What are the issues? It's hard for people to be homeless and get a job because they don't have a place to stay.
When and how did this start? Homelessness started during King Philips War of 1675 - 1676 against the native people the securities of some families were threatened and forced many families to become refugees across the frontier areas like New England and New York.
Where is it happening? All across the world e.g. Southeast Asia, India and South America.
Why is this happening? Homelessness is happening because of family fights, relationship breakdowns, anxiety, depresion and lots more reasons.
The action we are doing is helping the homelessness by helping and getting them a job so they can restart there life and get a house to live and have fresh water and food.

English Recount: Lonely Island
A week ago I crash landed on a island. But this island was special let me tell you the story of how I ended up on the island. I was about to jump out of the plane when the engine stopped and the pilot was trying to take control of the plane. The plane was still going out of control spiraling out of control I was getting thrown around trying to grab the handles I grabbed the seat trying to keep my balance from falling over I quickly looked under the seat I seen a bag with survival gear and a inflatable boat plus lifejacket. I grip onto the gear. Just as I took the gear under the seat the plane crashed smacking me around all over the place I black out.
Once i woke up my head was bleeding my body was aching I slowly got up and looked into the bag with survival gear I grabbed the first aid kit and snatched up the bandages I patched up my bloody wounds. It was a miracle that I didn’t fumbled out of the swirling plane leading to me falling death or break any of my arms or legs. I stumbled out of the plane nearly collapsing onto the rough ground. I glanced around the environment I see I’m in a jungle with enormous trees with what looks like a weird type of mango. I see if there are any more supplies in the demolished plane There are a couple of packs left in the plane I grab the food and water I check the pilot seat The window is smashed and all I see is blood and two dead corpses decapitated waist down. Guts spilled everywhere I quickly grabbed what I can and rush off before I vomit from the foul smell and looks of the corpse’s.
It’s starting to get dark I grab the axe out of the duffle bag it’s blunt but I can still use it I start to slice thick branches off trees. I start to place and balance the branches up against the opening of the demolished plane. I set up my sleeping bag thinking about how i was going to get out of this place?. I know I had a raft but I will probably starve and die of thirst because I will run out of food and there is no drinkable water out there in the ocean.
I wake up with the sound of chirping birds and strange animal sounds. I pack my gear up I go outside “I need to find water I only have a limited supply of water”. I climb a tall tree with my harness that I found in my survival duffel bag all I can see is trees, trees, trees and even more trees I slide down I start wandering around grabbing strange looking fruit and still looking for a source of water to drink. After several hours past I think I finally found a source a water. I run towards it I almost trip several times I get to it I take massive gulps it doesn’t taste like water it sorta tastes like sweet mango.
The sky starts to darken the dark grey clouds form it starts pouring down. I grab the waterproof jacket from the survival duffel bag. The rain feels strange I feel dizzy I collapse into the water. Next thing I wake up perfectly fine I feel different I feel stronger than I ever have been I grab onto a tree trunk beside me it breaks in two. I have super strength. I jump I instantly roared up I can even touch the clouds. I formed a belly flop I start flying. Whatever the rain was it was very special. I started flying back to civilization. I reach the city. I blackout I started falling down. Next thing I know I’m awaken by a scientist in a lab with wires poking in me and at me. Months past scientists start going to the island experimenting the environment on how the rain made me super. I start getting help with my special powers by the military helping them out with missions and saving people that are in danger. Even though I have special powers I’m still me. That is the story of how I ended up on the island.

Science Experiments
1. Magnesium reacting with oxygen:
Method: We held a strip of magnesium metal in the hottest part of a bunsen burner flame till it caught fire. We didn't look directly at the reaction because it would of made us lose eyesight.
Observations:
1. The magnesium metal was a small, tiny, silver of metal
2. The magnesium burned with a bright white light.
3. After it burned it turned into a greyish powder.
Include a photo/video of each observation and label them.
The word equation is:
The balanced chemical equation is:
2. Iron filings reacting with sulphur:
Method: We mixed equal amounts of iron filings and sulphur then used a magnet wrapped in paper to separate them. We mixed them again and added the mixture to a test tube and heated strongly.
Observations:
1. The iron filings were grey
2. The sulphur was a yellow powder
3, When we heated the tube It turned bright red and started forming together.
4. After the reaction It turned into a greyish yellow powder.
Include a photo/video of each observation and label them.

Acids, Bases and Indicators
Aim: To investigate how indicators change colour in acids and bases.
Method:
1. Set up your spotting tile with two drops of acids in the first row of four, two drops of water in teh middle row of four and then 2 drops of base in the last row of four.
2. In the first row of three put a small piece of red litmus paper (tear your strip into three for this), in the second row put a small piece of blue litmus paper, in the third row a small piece of universal litmus paper and in the fourth a drop of universal indicator.
Conclusion:

Conclusion:
They all starting making different colours and each of the those colours represent acids or bases.
Green and Rainbow challenges
A: Green challenge:
Take a test tube and fill with "two fingers" of the base. Now see the teacher for three drops of universal indicator. Now add the acid
Observations:
1. When we added the universal indicator to the base the colour changed to yellow.
2. When the solution was neutralised the colour changed to green.
The most difficult thing about this challenge was Trying to get green because it kept on showing up with different colours but not green which is what i wanted but eventually i got it.
Include a photo of the final green solution.
B: Rainbow challenge:
Take a test tube, the base and the acid and universal indicator and create a the best rainbow in a test tube you can manage.
Put a photo of your rainbow in a test tube here:

Making Table Salt
Aim: To make sodium chloride crystals by neutralising an acid with a base (alkali)
Method:
1. Measure 10ml of hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the small measuring cylinder and pour into a 50ml beaker.
(include photo here)
2. Add dilute sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to the acid a few drops at a time while stirring with a glass stirring rod.
(include second photo here)
3. Use the glass stirring rod to transfer a drop of the solution to a spotting tile. Add a drop of universal indicator. Is it neutral? (green)
(include third photo here)
4. Once it is neutralised (pH = 7 - green) pour the liquid into an evaporating dish and heat till it boils slowly.
(include fourth photo here)
Observations: Write one observation for each step of the method.
1. Once it was in it was a mixed colour combination
2. It took a while for the acids to
3.
4. Once it boiled it turned into salt but you can't taste it yet.
Word equation for the reaction: Sodium Chloride + water = Table Salt

Taking Apart A Computer.
This is links my info-graph of parts of a computer that we took apart

My experience of taking a computer was learning all about parts of inside a computer. Identifying components of how the computer works and what it needs to work. I learnt about the motherboard more in depth and how to take apart a computer with just simple tools and inside is not just simple components and learning about all important components on how they work and how you can fix them if they break and what they need to work for the computer to work and what they do to the computer.
My Next Step is to learn more about components more in depth and how take apart a computer without it breaking so it can work when it is put back together.
